What Will Happen To Versace?

By pages | February 8, 2010

Allegra Beck Versace is in the middle of speculation about what indeed will happen to the House of Versace in years to come. After her uncle Gianni’s murder in 1997, Allegra was given a 50% stake in the Versace company, leaving her the prime share holder.

However, it seems that Allegra has no desire to join the family business, instead pursuing her dream of becoming an actress. In a recent Wall Street Journal article, Deborah Ball speaks of how Donatella told her daughter that if she hadn’t succeeded in her acting dreams by age 24 then she had to return home from New York and work for Versace. Allegra turns 24 this June, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Some say she would be better off to sell her share to LVMH or similar, in hope of returning the company to its former glory. The business has had such a turbulent past, with murder, drug addiction, eating disorders and out of control spending habits all adding to its demise. We truly hope they can recover and that Allegra will make the right decision.
