Diesel:U:Music Giveaway!

Diesel:U:Music has landed in Australia for their Sydney tour stop! Bringing with them International D:U:M winner’s The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! and Maluca, they’ll be putting on the show to end all shows at the Oxford Arts Factory on Wednesday 25 November. Along with Australia’s D:U:M winner, the Melbourne based foursome Foxx on Fire, this show is going to be awesome.
Hailing from NYC, The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! are a never-ending romp of a dance party made up of Neil Fridd and friends. Conducting performances that are typically unpredictable, they make sound through looped pianos and saxes that race on top of crappy synths and ill beats. Live, TPDR become an incredible rumbling beast as Neil has been known to run through crowds, perform acrobatics, wear a jumpsuit made from hundreds of sewn on plush toys, and orchestrate elaborate light shows, all whilst singing dancey pop songs. Their shows definitely transcend a purely musical performance — you don’t watch a TPDR performance, you become part of it.
We took 5 minutes to catch up with Neil and some members of the cheeky and colourful TPDR:
How long have you been in Sydney?
“About 37 seconds”
How’s the tour going?
“The tour? We have just found the best concierge ever.”
How many people are you travelling with?
“There’s five of us, but people are always coming and going…”
What’s the best city you guys have been to as part of the tour?
“Tokyo, and Neil liked Norway.”
Neil, how did the plush suit come about?
“I don’t really wear the plush suit anymore. I like shiny things and animal skins. Have you seen the movie Encino Man? I’m kind of looking like the Encino Man, coming out of the chunk of ice.”
How do you guys get ready for a show?
“We plan a lot then everything breaks.”
